Iris

It grows from bulbs and has rhizomes. It needs well-drained rich soil and a sunny area. If they do get enough sun they won’t flower. Avoid too much watering as it can lead to rotting. Irises are drought tolerant and do not need much watering. Keep this mind when planting them close to your other flowers that may need extra water.

Do not cover Iris’s rhizomes as they need exposure to the air. Avoid theĀ rhizomes to become overcrowded. Separate them and replant them inĀ

Irises do not like high nitrogen fertilizers.

Do not remove Iris’s leaves as the foliage sends nutrients to the rhizome for next year’s flowers. You need to remove the dead flowers to encourage more flowering but do not remove the leaves.
